UPM to invest newsprint quality at Chapelle Darblay mill, France
UPM will modernize the newsprint production line at its Chapelle Darblay mill
in France by investing EUR 15 million to improve product quality. The
modernization will encompass the mill's existing de-inking plant and paper
machine 6.
The rebuilt line is scheduled to start in January 2008. After the investment,
the annual production capacity of the line will be 250,000 tonnes.
"With this investment we will increase the efficiency of the production line and
improve the quality of our standard newsprint to correspond to the highest
quality requirements of our customers" says Project Manager Armin Schmidt.
UPM's Chapelle Darblay paper mill is located in Grand-Couronne in northern
France. The mill employs 440 people and operates two paper machines with a total
annual production capacity of 350,000 tonnes of newsprint. Chapelle Darblay's
paper production is based on 100% recycled fiber.
