Mr Ovaska has 20 years of experience in the paper industry after graduating
from the Helsinki University of Technology. He began his working career with the
Finnish Pulp & Paper Research Institute (KCL) in 1983 and joined United Paper
Mills Ltd, Jämsänkoski mill, in 1984.
After the UPM-Kymmene merger in 1995, Mr Ovaska assumed the responsibilities of
Vice President, Business Development of the newly formed Paper Divisions
covering Newsprint, Magazine and Fine Paper Divisions. During 1998-2000, he was
in charge of the LWC Product Group within UPM. During the years 2001–2002 as a
Senior Vice President, he was in charge of the Business Development & Support
Functions in the UPM Publication Papers Division. From January 2002 up until
December 2003, Mr Ovaska headed the UPM Fine and Speciality Papers Division. In
January 2004, he assumed his current responsibilities as President of Magazine
Papers Division.
Mr. Ovaska has been a member of the UPM Executive Team since January 2002. He
was also the Vice Chairman and member of the KCL Board in 2001-2003. |
